New tax incentives encourage environmentally-friendly drainage infrastructure

With Houston’s approval of the Green Stormwater Infrastructure Incentive Program, District C Council Member Abbie Kamin believes the city is on the track to become more environmentally friendly.

The program, which was approved on Dec. 16, would incentivize businesses to implement “Green Infrastructure,” such as roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavement and rainwater harvesting, in exchange for property tax incentives.
