PERMINATOR provides the vapour barrier industry with a highly effective, economical choice for helping to reduce the penetration of moisture and water vapour through the slab into the structure, thereby helping to reduce fungus, mildew, and mould growth.\u00a0 PERMINATOR also helps reduce radon gas from entering the structure.<\/p>\n<p>PERMINATOR is tough enough to withstand normal construction jobsite conditions and traffic.\u00a0 It will not crack, puncture, snag, split, or tear easily.<\/p>\n<p>PERMINATOR prevents uncontrolled moisture from entering the slab allowing the slab to maintain the maximum slab moisture emission rate and relative humidity level as allowed by flooring manufacturer\u2019s specifications.<\/p>\n<p>Installation is quick and easy. All joints\/seams, both side and end, should be overlapped 152.4 mm (6\u201d) and taped using 101.6 mm (4\u201d) wide <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/perminator-tape-canada\/\">PERMINATOR TAPE<\/a> from W. This will sandwich PERMINATOR between the footing, vertical wall, and poured concrete floor.\u00a0 (See illustration.)\u00a0 This will help protect the concrete slab from external moisture sources once the slab has been placed.<\/p>\n<p>Before placing concrete slab, make sure all penetrations, block outs, and damaged areas are repaired\/addressed.<\/p>\n<p>Numerous municipal building codes do not allow the placement of vapour barriers over the footing, due to breaking of the bond between the wall and footing.\u00a0 Although this is not an optimal application method, W. R. The length should be 1.5 times the pipe circumference.\u00a0 With a roofer\u2019s knife or scissors, cut \u201cfingers\u201d half the width of the film.\u00a0 See figure1.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap around and tape the collar onto the pipe and completely tape fingers to the bottom layer of PERMINATOR, as shown in figure 2.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In the event that PERMINATOR is damaged during or after installation, repairs must be made.\u00a0 Cut a piece of PERMINATOR large enough to cover any damage by a minimum overlap of 152.4 mm (6\u201d) in all directions.\u00a0 Clean all adhesion areas of dust, dirt, and moisture.\u00a0 Tape down all edges using PERMINATOR TAPE.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE:\u00a0 It is not necessary to overlay PERMINATOR with gravel or sand.\u00a0 PERMINATOR is tough enough to withstand normal construction abuse and traffic.\u00a0 Most flooring companies recommend the placement of the concrete slab directly on the vapour barrier.\u00a0 We agree, since this eliminates the potential for trapping moisture in a blotter-effect, causing it to resurface through the slab into the flooring systems.\u00a0 Consult local building codes and regulations, plus architectural and design firm guidelines, prior to application.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Vapor Barrier Perminator Collar Installation\" src=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/vapor-barrier-perminator-collar-installation.jpg\" alt=\"Vapor Barrier Perminator Collar Installation Drawing\" width=\"597\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vertical Wall Application \u2026 <\/strong>Install <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-rol-canada\/\">MEL-ROL<sub>\u00ae<\/sub><\/a> waterproofing membrane or <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-rol-lm-canada\/\">MEL-ROL LM<\/a> liquid waterproofing membrane according to installation instructions.\u00a0 While the membrane is still tacky, install PERMINATOR as a protective course over the applied waterproofing membrane.\u00a0 Using TERMINATION BAR with concrete nails or PERMINATOR TAPE at the termination of the waterproofing membrane is advisable in some applications.\u00a0 Supervised care must be taken during backfilling against the material so that it is not damaged or punctured.\u00a0 If damage occurs, patch using the techniques outlined previously.\u00a0 When applying PERMINATOR TAPE to foundation walls, <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-prime-canada\/\">MEL-PRIME<sub><sub>\u2122<\/sub> <\/sub><\/a>adhesive may be used to increase bond.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACCESSORIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-drain-canada\/\">MEL-DRAIN<sub>\u00ae<\/sub><\/a> rolled matrix drainage system is designed to remove moisture from around footings and relieve hydrostatic head pressures.\u00a0 Several different versions are available.<\/p>\n<p>MEL-ROL LM or <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/pointing-mastic-canada\/\">POINTING MASTIC<\/a> may be used for small stakes, small pipe, and rebar penetrations.\u00a0 Cut PERMINATOR just big enough for the penetration.\u00a0 Liberally apply MEL-ROL LM or POINTING MASTIC around the penetration to keep the integrity of the PERMINATOR membrane intact.\u00a0 MEL-ROL LM can be applied by brush, roller, or sprayer.\u00a0 POINTING MASTIC can be applied by caulking gun or trowel.<\/p>\n<p>PERMINATOR TAPE is a self-adhesive tape for use in sealing vapour retarder seams and attachment to footings, protrusions, etc.\u00a0 It is offered in 10 cm (4\u201d) widths and roll lengths of 55 m (180\u2019)\/roll.\u00a0 It is packaged twelve rolls per carton.\u00a0 Coverage:\u00a0 One box of tape will adhere approximately 10 rolls of PERMINATOR.<\/p>\n<p>TERMINATION BAR is provided in 3 m (10\u2019) lengths to attach PERMINATOR to walls as a protection course for vertical surface waterproofing applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIMITATIONS\/PRECAUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PERMINATOR underslab vapour barrier does not negate the need for relief of hydrostatic heads.\u00a0 A complete drain tile system should be placed on the exterior of the footing and, in severe cases, on the interior of the footing as well.\u00a0 For maximum concrete performance and durability, the concrete floor slab design should provide for the lowest possible slump, yet assure complete hydration of the concrete.\u00a0 Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/Msds-2K-CAN\/5242-100.pdf\">Safety Data Sheet<\/a> for complete health and safety information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MASTERFORMAT NUMBER AND TITLE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>03 33 00 &#8211;
