It is a milky-white, non-yellowing liquid ready to use as an interface or intramix bonding agent.  When properly mixed and applied, INTRALOK forms a bond between new-to-old concrete that is typically stronger than the concrete.<\/p>\n<p>Cement mortars modified with INTRALOK are hard, tough and durable. It offers superior tensile, flexural, and impact strengths. INTRALOK also improves adhesion resistance of the modified mortar. INTRALOK reduces permeability and chloride intrusion, improving freeze\/thaw resistance and reducing rebar corrosion.<\/p>\n<p>INTRALOK-modified concrete is unaffected by ultraviolet light and will not yellow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>USES<\/strong><br \/>\nINTRALOK&#8217;s most common uses are for patching and resurfacing, spray and fill coats, repairing pre-cast building panels and beams, industrial flooring, highway and bridge deck repairs. <\/p>\n<p>INTRALOK is ideal for interior or exterior bonding, topping, levelling, patching and dressing of concrete and masonry. As a bonding grout, it improves the adhesion of pneumatically applied concrete or mortar. INTRALOK-modified mortars provide excellent adhesion to a variety of surfaces, including concrete and masonry. The result is a more attractive, durable, uniform and weatherproof concrete finish which costs far less than polishing or rubbing.<\/p>\n<p>INTRALOK is also ideal for use as an interface or intramix bonding agent in bonding grouts, topping mixtures, finishing and mortar mixes. All loose, unsound concrete must be removed.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-soak all surfaces with water prior to applying the bonding grout. Remove all puddles and free water. The cementitious mix must be applied while the INTRALOK is still tacky.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Mixing<\/strong><br \/>\nSpecific mixing proportions for these various INTRALOK mixes are listed on the container. All cautions, mixing and application information and directions furnished on container labels should be read and followed. For normal mixing, dry blend the Portland Cement and sand. Mix the INTRALOK and water together, add to the cement-sand mix, and then mechanically blend the complete mix thoroughly. The quantity of water should be determined by a trial mix \u2026 where only 50% of the water is first added to the INTRALOK, before adding to the sand-cement mix.  After thorough preliminary mixing, add increments of additional water until the desired consistency is obtained.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Mixes by Volume<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1.Bonding Slurry:<\/strong><br \/>\n1 part INTRALOK<br \/>\n2-1\/2 parts Portland cement<br \/>\n2-1\/2 parts fine sand (ASTM C144)<br \/>\nWater: Enough for a for a thick creamy consistency (Approximately 1 part) <\/p>\n<p>4 litre unit of INTRALOK used to mix a bonding slurry will yield approximately 0.014 m\u00b3 (0.49 ft.\u00b3), enough to cover an area of 8.45 m\u00b2 (90.24 ft.\u00b2) at 1.59 mm (1\/16&#8243;) thickness or 4.18 m\u00b2 (45 ft.\u00b2) at 3.18 mm (1\/8&#8243;) thickness.  Apply with a stiff bristle brush; be sure to work bonding slurry into existing concrete pores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.Topping and Shallow Patching Mix: <\/strong><br \/>\n1 part INTRALOK<br \/>\n5 parts Portland cement.<br \/>\n15 parts fine sand (ASTM C404, Size #2)<br \/>\nWater: &#8211; Enough for trowelable consistency (Approximately 2 parts).<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Mortar Mix: <\/strong><br \/>\n1 part INTRALOK<br \/>\n5 parts Portland cement<br \/>\n15 parts sand (ASTM C404, Size #2)<br \/>\nWater: Enough for desired consistency (Approximately 1-1\/2 to 2 parts).<\/p>\n<p>4 litres of INTRALOK used in a topping or mortar mix will yield approximately 0.05 m\u00b3 (1.8 ft.\u00b3) to cover an area of 7.99 m\u00b2 (86 ft.\u00b2) at 6.35 mm (1\/4&#8243;) thickness.  Topping or mortar mix should be applied while the INTRALOK Bonding Grout is still soft and plastic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Finish Mix:<\/strong><br \/>\n1 part INTRALOK<br \/>\n10 parts Portland cement<br \/>\n10 parts fine sand (ASTM C404 Size #2)<br clear=\"ALL\" \/> Water: Enough for stiff, brushable consistency. (Approximately 4 parts).<\/p>\n<p>INTRALOK Bonding Grout must be thoroughly worked and scrubbed onto the prepared concrete surface in order to realize maximum bonding efficiency.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>PRECAUTIONS<\/strong><br \/>\nKeep from freezing.  Approximate work life is 30-40 minutes at 21\u00baC (70\u00baF). Do not apply at surface temperatures below 4\u00b0C (40\u00b0F). Use care in finishing thin overlays. Wood float when possible. Steel trowelling should be limited to a minimum number of passes 10-15 minutes after placement. When INTRALOK is used in a bonding grout and the patch topping is plain concrete, use a membrane curing compound. If the patch or topping contains INTRALOK as an admixture, wet curing is NOT recommended.<\/p>\n<p>INTRALOK Bonding Grout or Topping Mix should be mixed thoroughly to remove lumps. Avoid air entrapment. Clean tools with water immediately. Follow all cautions on container labels. Do not add to premixed grouts. Specifier and user shall determine suitability of product for specific applications and assume all responsibilities in connection therewith. INTRALOK has an effective shelf life of 6 months from the date of manufacture. <\/p>\n<p>Note:  Increased amounts of various fillers, extenders or additives in the concrete mix can result in the concrete having a higher than normal porosity and some very porous hot spots. Coverage ratios must be adjusted to compensate for resulting penetration and additional coverage coats required to provide proper surface treatment.
