R. MEADOWS&#8217; exclusive PLASMATIC<sub>\u00ae<\/sub> CORE.   The PLASMATIC CORE is a seven-layer matrix designed for toughness and provides the lowest water vapour transmission (WVT) rating on the market.  Once concrete is poured against PRECON and the concrete cures, a mechanical bond forms that secures the concrete to the membrane.<\/p>\n<p><strong>USES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PRECON is used as a blindside membrane in vertical applications where access to the positive side is limited. Such applications include soldier pile and lagging, metal sheet piling, caissons, shotcrete and stabilized earth retention walls. The membrane can also be used for horizontal applications for underslab waterproofing and vapourproofing. Applications may include structures under continuous or intermittent hydrostatic pressure. In these situations, contact W. R. MEADOWS Technical Services for verification of installation requirements and applicable installation guidelines. Install PRECON in strict accordance with W. R. MEADOWS installation guidelines and details using all accessory products as specified or required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FEATURES\/BENEFITS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provides a waterproof seal between the membrane and poured concrete wall.<\/li>\n<li>Helps prevent moisture migration into the structure.<\/li>\n<li>Reduces methane and radon gas intrusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PACKAGING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.2 m (4&#8242;) wide x 15.2 m (50&#8242;) long rolls, one roll per carton.<\/p>\n<p><strong>COVERAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Provides 18.6 m<sup>2<\/sup> (200 ft.<sup>2<\/sup>) per roll.\u00a0 Gross coverage is 18.6 m<sup>2<\/sup> (200 ft.<sup>2<\/sup>).\u00a0 [Net coverage is 16.26 m<sup>2<\/sup> (175 ft.<sup>2<\/sup>) with overlap of 152.4 mm (6\u201d).]<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wrmeadows.com\/app\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coverage Calculator<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>STORAGE AND HANDLING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Store membrane cartons on pallets and cover if left outside. Keep materials away from sparks and flames.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Surface Preparation \u2026 <\/strong>Inspect all surfaces for any conditions detrimental to the proper completion of the work. Surfaces should be structurally sound. Remove debris or any other foreign material that could damage the membrane.<\/p>\n<p>PRECON can be used with a caisson wall shoring system without the use of a drainage board, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-drain-canada\/\">MEL-DRAIN<sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/a>\u00a0from W. R. MEADOWS. W. R. MEADOWS recommends proper site drainage.\u00a0 The decision to remove the drainage board should be at the discretion of the engineer. In situations where a drainage board is not applied, surface preparation is important. The substrate needs to be sound, solid, and smooth.\u00a0 Any gaps or voids &gt;25 mm (1\u201d) need to be grouted.\u00a0 When PRECON is used with MEL-DRAIN, the system can bridge gaps &lt;50.8 mm (2\u201d).\u00a0 However, gaps &gt;50.8 mm (2\u201d) will need to be grouted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Method \u2026 <\/strong>PRECON may be applied at temperatures down to 5\u00b0 C; however, in less than ideal environments or marginal conditions, consider the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/precon-low-temp-canada\/\">PRECON WINTER-GRADE<\/a> below 16\u00b0 C. PRECON WINTER-GRADE can be used in temperatures down to -7\u00b0 C. Please reference <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrmeadows.com\/precon-cold-weather-application\/\">PRECON COLD WEATHER APPLICATION TECHNICAL BULLETIN<\/a> for full installation instructions. Solvent-based <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-prime-canada\/\">MEL-PRIME<sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/a>\u00a0from W. R. MEADOWS should be used to enhance the bond at the selvedge edge when conditions warrant with both PRECON and PRECON WINTER-GRADE.\u00a0 (MEL-PRIME W\/B is not recommended for this cold-temperature installation.)\u00a0 Before application of the blindside membrane, attach MEL-DRAIN to the lagging or soil retention system.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to application of the blindside membrane, attach MEL-DRAIN<sub><sub>\u2122<\/sub> <\/sub>rolled matrix drainage system from W. R. MEADOWS to lagging or soil retention system.<\/p>\n<p>In vertical applications of PRECON, mechanically attach with fasteners every 305 mm (12&#8243;) across the top, within 13 mm (\u00bd&#8221;) of the top edge of the membrane.\u00a0 Install the membrane with the fabric side facing toward the concrete pour ( <a class=\"vp-a\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/qVM5fVcw6O4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"20\" height=\"15\" \/> Application Video<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Remove release paper on 152.4 mm (6&#8243;) overlap.\u00a0 Apply membrane and roll press into place with a tile type roller.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/training-videos\/precon-end-lap-application\/\">End Laps<\/a> \u2026<\/strong> Overlap membrane 152.4 mm (6&#8243;).\u00a0 Prior to overlap, apply <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/bem-canada\/\">BEM<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/hydralastic-836-canada\/\">HYDRALASTIC 836<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/mel-rol-liquid-membrane-canada\/\">MEL-ROL<sub>\u00ae<\/sub> LIQUID MEMBRANE<\/a> (two-component) from W. MEADOWS in area to be lapped.\u00a0 Roll press membrane into BEM, HYDRALASTIC 836, or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE.\u00a0 At terminations of membrane, apply BEM, HYDRALASTIC 836, or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE 305 mm (12&#8243;) wide centered over the termination and while still wet, embed 305 mm (12&#8243;) wide <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/detail-fabric-canada\/\">DETAIL FABRIC<\/a> into the HYDRALASTIC 836 or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE and roll press into place.\u00a0 Ensure that DETAIL FABRIC is centered over the termination with 152.4 mm (6&#8243;) on each side of lap edge.\u00a0 Apply additional HYDRALASTIC 836 on all terminations of DETAIL FABRIC.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/detail-tape-h-canada\/\">DETAIL TAPE H<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/detail-tape-v-canada\/\">DETAIL TAPE V<\/a> from W. R. MEADOWS can be used in both horizontal and vertical end laps.\u00a0 View <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/technical-bulletin-precon-hydrastop-sa-end-lap-taping-method\/\">PRECON END LAP TAPING METHOD TECHNICAL BULLETIN<\/a> for full information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Penetrations and Protrusions \u2026 <\/strong>Detail around all horizontal and vertical penetrations using BEM, HYDRALASTIC 836, or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE (two-component).\u00a0 Apply BEM, HYDRALASTIC 836, or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE by forming a fillet around the pipe or protrusion, overlapping the fabric side of PRECON and the protrusion a minimum of 64 mm (2.5&#8243;).\u00a0 If the gap between the protrusion and the membrane is greater than 13 mm (\u00bd&#8221;), apply DETAIL FABRIC over uncured BEM, HYDRALASTIC 836, or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE.\u00a0 All penetration and protrusion surfaces must be clean, rust-free, and sound prior to application of BEM, HYDRALASTIC 836, or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE ( <a class=\"vp-a\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0jpTCbLkaoQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/icon5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"20\" height=\"15\" \/> Application Video<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>*MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE is a two-component material, not to be confused with MEL-ROL LM.<\/p>\n<p>For horizontal applications involving a cluster of penetrations, consider the use of HYDRALASTIC 836.\u00a0 Prior to application of HYDRALASTIC 836, prepare the surfaces of the penetrations as above and provide a block out using 50.8 mm x 101.6 mm (2\u201d x 4\u201d) lumber or other in order to create a \u201cpitch pan\u201d area to receive HYDRALASTIC 836.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patching \u2026<\/strong> Prior to pouring, inspect membrane for punctures or damage and repair as necessary with HYDRALASTIC 836 and\/or DETAIL FABRIC.\u00a0 (BEM or MEL-ROL LIQUID MEMBRANE may be used in place of HYDRALASTIC 836.)\u00a0 In addition, ensure the membrane is free of standing water and has been cleaned of any deleterious materials that will affect the bond of the concrete to the membrane.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Underslab<\/strong><strong> Application \u2026 <\/strong>Refer to ACI 302.1R: Chapter 4 \u2013 Site Preparation and Placing Environment for sub-grade preparation prior to PRECON placement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIMITATIONS\/PRECAUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Concrete should be poured within 60 days of membrane installation. For installations below 4\u00b0 C, contact <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/tech-form\/\">W. R. MEADOWS technical services<\/a>. When using bar supports, use those with a flat bottom.\u00a0 It is the responsibility of the licensed design professional of record to determine suitability of PRECON as the vapor mitigation barrier based on the published VOC permeance data per project and governmental regulations. It is suggested to follow good industry practices to install a passive (convertible to active) venting system or provide active venting above the mitigation barrier.\u00a0 Install PRECON in clean soil
