\nAdhesive, Vapour Barrier, and Weather Barrier Insulation Coating<\/strong><\/p>\n

DESCRIPTION<\/b>
\n450 is an asphalt-based, cutback type, insulation adhesive, and vapor barrier coating that can be used over insulations on piping and equipment in low to moderately high temperature environments. When properly applied as an adhesive or vapor barrier coating, it protects against moisture and environmental conditions such as chemical dusts, fumes, fogs, and moisture. The cured coating will form an impermeable, tough and durable finish.<\/p>\n

USES<\/b>
\n450 as an insulation adhesive is designed for bonding rigid insulation board such as polystyrene, fiberglass, bead, cork, and other form types to masonry, concrete, plaster board, or metal.\u00a0 The product is particularly suited for use in cavity wall masonry construction. As a vapor and weather barrier coating, it can be used over the same insulations indicated above as well as cellular glass and polyurethane insulations.<\/p>\n

APPLICATION<\/strong>
\nSurface Preparation \u2026 <\/b>Surface shall be firm and free from loose particles, cracks, grease, oil, and other foreign matter. Surface must be free from frost, snow and ice.<\/p>\n

Application Method \u2026<\/b> If temperatures are 10\u00ba C or below, warm material by leaving in a heated building overnight. DO NOT USE A FLAME TO HEAT.<\/p>\n

Full Coat and Notched Trowel Applications \u2026 <\/strong>Apply adhesive at specified coverage to one or both surfaces to be bonded. Press insulation into place using a firm twisting motion to ensure even contact.<\/p>\n

Spot Application \u2026 <\/strong>Apply 20 mm x 20 mm (\u00be” x \u00be”) gobs on 25 cm (10″) centres. Press insulation into place.<\/p>\n

Bead Application \u2026 <\/strong>Using a bulk caulking gun or pneumatic dispenser, extrude a continuous 8 mm (5\/16″) bead on 20 cm (8″) centres. Keep adhesive within 8 cm (3″) of the edge of the board. Press insulation into place.<\/p>\n

Important Application Tip \u2026 <\/strong>Always allow\u00a0approximately 10 minutes between applying the adhesive and pressing the board into place. This will ensure optimum adhesion and reduce chances of solvent buildup behind the insulation.<\/p>\n

Drying Time \u2026 <\/strong>24 hours average.<\/p>\n
