R. MEADOWS.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The proper surface preparation is essential for a successful waterproofing and concrete repair using\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST.<\/strong>\u00a0 Remove all loose rust from any exposed reinforcing steel and apply two coats of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/patch-prime-exposed-steel-primer\/\"><strong>PATCH-PRIME<sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0rustproofing from\u00a0<strong>W. R. MEADOWS<\/strong>.\u00a0 Use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/gem-plast-tc-canada\/\"><strong>GEM-PLAST TC<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/meadow-patch-t1-canada\/\"><strong>MEADOW-PATCH<sub>\u2122<\/sub>\u00a0T1<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for addressing bug holes and honeycombing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crack Treatment \u2026\u00a0<\/strong>All cracks must be treated using\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST\u00a0<\/strong>or\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC NW\u00a0<\/strong>or<strong>\u00a0REINFOCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>.\u00a0 Pre-fill any open cracks larger than 2 mm (80 mils) with\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>.\u00a0 Apply a thin coat of\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>\u00a015 \u2013 25 cm (6 \u2013 10\u2033) wide over the crack.\u00a0 Embed a strip of\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC NW\u00a0<\/strong>or<strong>\u00a0REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>\u00a0into the wet\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST\u00a0<\/strong>and apply a second coat to fully cover the\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC NW\u00a0<\/strong>or<strong>\u00a0REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong><u>. Important: REINFORCING FABRIC NW is typically used over cracks on elevated slabs. For below-grade application, always use REINFORCING FABRIC HD.\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cove Installation \u2026 <\/strong>Install 40 &#8211; 50 mm (1.5 &#8211; 2\u201d) \u201ccoves\u201d in vertical and horizontal corners (all 90\u00b0 angles) using <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/cem-kote-cw-patch-canada\/\"><strong>CEM-KOTE CW PATCH<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/en-ca\/meadow-crete-ov-overhead-vertical-patching-compound\/\"><strong>MEADOW-CRETE OV<\/strong><\/a>. All the coves must be reinforced with <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong><em>, <\/em>well embedded and covered in <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>. The installation of the cove as specified, including the proper embedding and covering <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD,<\/strong> is essential to avoid water leaks through the corners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mixing \u2026\u00a0<\/strong>Thoroughly mix the liquid Component B prior to its use.\u00a0 Use paddle or helix mortar mixer or heavy-duty drill (400-600 rpm) with a mixing paddle.\u00a0 Pour approximately 80% of component B into a clean mixer and gradually add the dry component A, while mixing, until a smooth and lump free mix is obtained.\u00a0 Lumps will form if the dry material is added suddenly into the liquid.\u00a0 Add the remaining liquid, while mixing, to achieve the consistency required for a given application.\u00a0 A small amount of water can be added, if required, at higher ambient temperatures.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>W. R. MEADOWS<\/strong> recommends the Collomix<sub>\u00ae<\/sub> MK 140 HF for mixing. Mix in a receptacle larger than 18.9 L (5 gal., such as a Collomix 37.9 L (10 gal.) bucket.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Method \u2026<\/strong>\u00a0Trowel or brush apply\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong> to a minimum thickness of 1.6 mm (64 mils) in two (2) coats to a saturated surface damp concrete.\u00a0 <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>\u00a0can also be spray applied using a hopper gun or positive displacement (moyno or carrousel) pump, with a suitable plastering spray nozzle.\u00a0 The hose size should be min. 25 mm (1\u2033).\u00a0 The second coat must be applied into a wet first coat, as soon as the first coat allows the application and brushing of the second coat.\u00a0 The time between the coats will depend on temperature, relative humidity, surface porosity, sun, wind, etc.\u00a0 The delayed application of the second coat could result in de-bonding. If the first coat is left to dry overnight, clean the surface with water [10-14 MPa (1,500-2,000 psi)] and let dry prior to application of an additional coat.\u00a0 When spraying, brush each coat to eliminate all pinholes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reinforcing Fabric\u00a0 \u2026\u00a0<\/strong>In some projects,\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>\u00a0may have to be used throughout.\u00a0 When using\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>, apply first a thin layer of\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>\u00a0by brushing or spraying.\u00a0 When spraying, brush each coat to eliminate all \u201cpinholes.\u201d\u00a0 Embed\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>\u00a0into the first coat and follow with a second coat.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>\u00a0must be fully covered and must not protrude through the surface.<\/p>\n<p>The total minimum applied thickness of\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>, including\u00a0<strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>, must be 2 mm (80 mils).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curing \u2026\u00a0<\/strong>Cure\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>\u00a0by air-drying for a minimum of 3 days prior to a continuous exposure to water. \u00a0Protect fresh applications from rain, strong wind and intense sunlight for 12 hours.\u00a0 When working under tarps at freezing temperatures, use electrical heaters and \u201cforced\u201d venting. Avoid using propane heaters to prevent \u201ccarbonation\u201d of the material.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cleanup \u2026\u00a0<\/strong>All tools must be cleaned with water immediately after use. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRECAUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Do not apply\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>\u00a0when the temperature is expected to be below 4\u00b0 C within 48 hours, or when rain is imminent.\u00a0 Follow hot weather concreting precautions when applying\u00a0<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX ST<\/strong>\u00a0at temperatures exceeding 25\u00b0 C or under sunny and windy conditions.\u00a0 Contact W. R.
