It provides an excellent negative- and positive-side waterproofing.<\/p>\n<p><em>Composition and Materials<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> is a highly flexible, hydraulic cement based, two-component system consisting of dry Component A and liquid Component B.<\/p>\n<p><em>Limitations<\/em><br \/>\nDo not apply <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> when the temperature is expected to be below 4\u00b0C (40\u00b0 F) within 48 hours, or when rain is imminent. Follow hot weather concreting precautions when applying <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> at temperatures exceeding 25\u00b0C (77\u00b0F). <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> is not designed for high traffic areas.<\/p>\n<p><em>Health and Safety<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> is non-toxic. Your skin might be sensitive to hydraulic cement or the liquid additive. We recommend use of rubber gloves. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. If contact occurs, flush immediately with water. Seek medical advice if irritation occurs. Harmful if digested. Keep product out of reach of children. FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY. Consult MSDS for additional information.<\/p>\n<p><em>Colour<\/em><br \/>\nIndustrial Grey, Light Grey and White.<\/p>\n<p><em>Packaging<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS <\/strong>consists of dry Component A, packaged in 16.0 kg (35.2 lb.) bags, and liquid Component B, packaged in 6.50L (1.7 USG) plastic containers. <em>Industrial Grey = <\/em>6.5 L (1.7 USG); <em>Light Grey<\/em> <em>= 7.4<\/em> L (1.95 USG). (Note: special formulations, depending on colour, contain varying amounts of Component B.)<\/p>\n<p><em>Yield<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> \u2013 <em>Industrial Grey with<\/em> 6.5 L Component B yields 12.9 L (0.46 ft.\u00b3) and covers approximately 8.06 m\u00b2 @ 1.6 mm (86.8 ft.\u00b3 @ 63 mils) per kit, applied in two (2) coats. The <em>Light Grey <\/em>material with 7.4 L (1.95 USG) yields 13.8 L (0.49 ft.\u00b3) and covers approximately 8.63 m\u00b2 (92.8 ft.\u00b2). Special formulations, with a higher volume of the Component B, have a higher yield, depending on specific formulation. The actual coverage will depend on surface roughness and the thickness applied. The applicator must carry out a sample application to determine the actual coverage for the given substrate and application thickness.<\/p>\n<p><em>Storage and Transportation<\/em><br \/>\nWhen stored in a dry area, Component A has a shelf life of 12 months. The liquid Component B <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must not<\/span> freeze. The applicator must, prior to bidding a project, confirm detailing and use of <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD <\/strong>with W. R. MEADOWS Technical Service.<\/p>\n<p><em>Surface Preparation<\/em><br \/>\nRemove all deteriorated and loose concrete, form release agents, oil, grease, laitance, dust, dirt, and efflorescence by dry or wet sandblast, shotblast, or high-pressure water (minimum 34.5 MPa [5,000 psi] or 24.1 MPa [3,500 psi] with sand brought to the nozzle). Repair deeper areas using <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/meadow-crete-gps-general-purpose-structural-repair-mortar\/\">MEADOW-CRETE<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/meadow-crete-gps-general-purpose-structural-repair-mortar\/\"><strong><sub>\u00ae<\/sub> GPS<\/strong><\/a> from W. R. MEADOWS<strong>.<\/strong> The proper surface preparation is essential for a successful waterproofing and concrete repair using <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Reinforcing Steel<\/em><br \/>\nRemove all loose rust from any exposed reinforcing steel and apply two coats of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/patch-prime-exposed-steel-primer\/\">PATCH-PRIME<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/patch-prime-exposed-steel-primer\/\"><strong><sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/strong><\/a> rust proofing from W. R. MEADOWS.<\/p>\n<p><em>Crack Treatment<\/em><br \/>\nAll cracks must be treated using <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> and <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC NW<\/strong>. Pre-fill any open cracks with <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong>. Apply a thin coat of <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong>, 15-25 cm (6-10&#8243;) wide, over the crack. Embed a strip of <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC NW<\/strong> into the wet <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> and apply a second coat to fully cover <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC NW<\/strong>. The total applied thickness should be 1.6-2 mm (60-80 mils).<\/p>\n<p><em>Mixing<\/em><br \/>\nThoroughly mix the liquid Component B prior to use. Use a clean paddle, helix mortar mixer or heavy-duty drill (400-600 rpm) with a mixing paddle. Pour approximately 80% of the Component B into the mixer and gradually add the dry material into the liquid. Mix until a smooth and lump-free mix is obtained. Add the remaining liquid as required for a given application consistency. A small amount of water can be added, if required, at higher ambient temperatures.<\/p>\n<p><em>Application<\/em><br \/>\nApply <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> to a saturated surface dry (SSD) or saturated surface damp surface. Trowel or brush apply a 1.6 to 2 mm (60-80 mils) thick layer in two coats. <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> can also be spray-applied using a hopper gun or positive displacement (moyno or carrousel) pump with a suitable plastering spray nozzle with compressed air at the nozzle. The hose size diameter is 25 mm (1&#8243;).<\/p>\n<p>When applying by sprayer, both coats need to be brushed to achieve the continuity of the coating and for elimination of pinholes. When spraying, avoid a localized &#8220;build-up&#8221; of the coating; this could result in the formation of plastic shrinkage cracking \u2013 &#8220;mud cracking.&#8221; If the build up accidentally occurs, use a brush to spread it out.<\/p>\n<p>The second coat must be applied into a wet first coat, as soon as the first coat allows the application of the second coat. The time between the coats will depend on temperature, relative humidity, surface porosity, sun, wind, etc. The delayed application of the second coat could result in its de-bonding. If the first coat is left to dry overnight, clean the surface with pressure water [14 \u2013 24 MPa (2,000 \u2013 3,500 psi)] and let dry prior to application of the next coat.<\/p>\n<p><em>Reinforcing Fabric<\/em><br \/>\nIn some projects, <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong> may have to be used throughout. When using <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>, apply first a thin layer of <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> by brushing or spraying. When spraying, brush each coat to eliminate all pinholes. Embed <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong> into the first coat and follow with a second coat. <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong> must be fully covered and must not protrude through the surface. The total applied thickness of <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong>, including <strong>REINFORCING FABRIC HD<\/strong>, should be 1.6 &#8211; 2 mm (60 &#8211; 80 mils).<\/p>\n<p><em>Curing<\/em><br \/>\nCure <strong>CEM-KOTE FLEX PLUS<\/strong> by air-drying for a minimum of three days prior to continuous exposure to water. Protect fresh applications from rain, strong wind, and intense sunlight for 12 hours. When working under tarps at freezing temperatures, use electrical heaters. Avoid using propane heaters to prevent &#8220;carbonation&#8221; of the material.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cleanup<\/em><br \/>\nAll tools must be cleaned with water immediately after use. Cured material must be removed mechanically.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MAINTENANCE<\/strong><br \/>\nNone required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WARRANTY<\/strong><br \/>\nA limited twelve (12) month Material Replacement Warranty is available.
