This very fast-setting, low slump repair mortar may be troweled, shaped, molded, and shaved before taking a final set.\u00a0\u00a0 MEADOW-PATCH 5 is an excellent patching solution for difficult vertical\/overhead applications without using expensive and intricate forming techniques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>USES<\/strong><br \/>\nMEADOW-PATCH 5 is easy to mix and apply. This very fast setting, low slump mortar is designed to minimize downtime. Because of its versatility, MEADOW-PATCH 5 can be used vertically, horizontally, or overhead.\u00a0 Whether the installation is interior or exterior, MEADOW-PATCH 5 is an excellent choice for fast repairs above-grade, below-grade, or on-grade. Mechanically abrade existing substrate to remove all unsound concrete, but do not use excessive force, which may cause micro-fracturing. Substrate must be structurally sound and free of any contaminant that will adversely affect bond.\u00a0 Prepared surface must be dust-free and have sufficient profile to ensure adequate mechanical lock.<\/p>\n<p>Completely expose all reinforcing steel, ensuring a minimum clearance of 19.1 mm (3\/4&#8243;) behind reinforcing steel.\u00a0 Perform reinforcing steel preparation in accordance with ICRI Technical Guidelines No. 03730.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-soak repair zone prior to application of slurry coat to a saturated, surface dry (SSD) condition and free of standing water.\u00a0 Prime SSD substrate with a slurry coat (two parts MEADOW-PATCH 5 powder to one part water or <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/acry-lok-canada\/\">ACRY-LOK<sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/a> from W. R. MEADOWS).\u00a0 Allow slurry coat to become tacky prior to application of MEADOW-PATCH 5.\u00a0 Do not allow slurry coat to become tack-free.<\/p>\n<p>As a hydraulic plug, cut or notch out the crack, joint, or void to a minimum dimension of 19.1 mm x 19.1 mm (3\/4&#8243; x 3\/4&#8243;). To ensure proper mechanical lock, the bottom of the newly notched opening should be wider than the top.\u00a0 The substrate must be sound and free of all contaminants and must be SSD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mixing \u2026 <\/strong>MEADOW-PATCH 5 requires approximately 3.3 &#8211; 3.78 L (3.5 &#8211; 4 U.S. quarts) of potable water per 22.7 kg (50 lb.) bag, depending on desired consistency. Mix until homogenous. Do not mix more material than can be placed and finished within 3 &#8211; 5 minutes at 25\u00b0 C (77\u00b0 F). Do not over mix.\u00a0 MEADOW-PATCH 5 may be mixed with 4.7 litres (1.25 U.S. gallons) of ACRY-LOK per 22.7 kg (50 lb.) bag to achieve greater durability and enhanced performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Placement \u2026 <\/strong>Compact MEADOW-PATCH 5 into properly prepared SSD substrate prior to bulk placement.\u00a0 Finish surface with a wood or steel trowel or sponge float.\u00a0 MEADOW-PATCH 5 may be applied up to 51 mm (2&#8243;).\u00a0 Do not re-temper or over-work product.\u00a0 Follow American Concrete Institute (ACI) 305-R89 &#8220;Standard on Hot Weather Concreting&#8221; or ACI 306-R88 &#8220;Standard on Cold Weather Concreting&#8221; when applicable.<\/p>\n<p>Force MEADOW-PATCH 5 directly into prepared crack and hold in place, maintaining pressure until material hardens.\u00a0 For jobs requiring a faster set time, the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/meadow-plug-canada\/\">MEADOW-PLUG<sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/a> from W. R. MEADOWS, an extremely fast chemical activity hydraulic plug with a set time of 90 &#8211; 120 seconds, may be necessary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curing \u2026 <\/strong>Cure MEADOW-PATCH 5 immediately following application using a suitable curing compound from W. R. MEADOWS or in accordance with ACI 308.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/1100-clear-canada\/\">1100-CLEAR<\/a> from W. R. MEADOWS is recommended for curing. When conditions exist for rapid early water loss, the use of <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/evapre-canada\/\">EVAPRE<sub>\u2122<\/sub><\/a>, an evaporation retarder from W. R. MEADOWS, is also recommended.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRECAUTIONS<\/strong><br \/>\nMEADOW-PATCH 5 is recommended for concrete repairs only.\u00a0 Not intended to be used as topping, for re-sloping, or as an underlayment. MEADOW-PATCH 5 is designed as a trowel down repair mortar to repair deteriorated or defective concrete. Do not apply below 1.7\u00b0 C or above 32.2\u00b0 C or when rain is imminent.\u00a0 Protect from freezing for a minimum 24 hours. Do not bridge moving cracks.<\/p>\n<p>Extend existing control, construction and expansion joints through MEADOW-PATCH 5.\u00a0 For large areas with no control, expansion, or construction joints, refer to ACI guidelines.\u00a0 The length-to-width ratio of the repair area should not exceed 2 to 1.\u00a0 Do not add any admixtures.\u00a0 Exceeding liquid requirements shall result in reduced physical properties. Realize that set time will decrease as the product, air, substrate, and mixing liquid temperature increases and will increase as the temperature decreases.\u00a0 Featheredging may result in reduced durability and performance.\u00a0 Maximum application thickness should not exceed 51 mm (2&#8243;) when applied neat.\u00a0 Protect from conditions that may cause early water loss: high winds, low humidity, high temperature, direct sunlight. Early water loss is also increased in thin applications.\u00a0 Failure to follow industry standard practices may result in decreased material performance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HEALTH AND SAFETY<\/strong><br \/>\nAvoid direct contact with this product, as it may cause skin and eye irritation. Utilize gloves and safety glasses to minimize direct contact. Avoid inhalation of dust.\u00a0 Inhalation may cause respiratory irritation and\/or lung disease (silicosis). This product contains silicon dioxide, which is classified by the IARC and NTP as probably carcinogenic to humans (IARC Group 2A). The use of NIOSH approved respiratory protection is recommended in dusty environments.
