AIR-SHIELD LSR cures to form a tough, seamless, elastomeric membrane, which exhibits excellent resistance to air and moisture transmission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>USES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AIR-SHIELD LSR has been specifically formulated to act as an air\/vapour and liquid moisture barrier within the building envelope.\u00a0 It may be applied to most common surfaces and integrated into various wall systems.\u00a0 AIR-SHIELD LSR is suitable for both new construction and restoration.\u00a0 Primary applications include cavity wall and masonry wall construction. AIR-SHIELD LSR is designed as an air barrier on precast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, masonry (concrete block), interior and exterior gypsum board, Styrofoam, primed steel, aluminum mill finish, anodized aluminum, primed galvanized metal, drywall, and plywood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FEATURES\/BENEFITS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-asphaltic \u2013 designed to meet stringent fire codes requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Low permeability &#8211; MEADOWS for further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPLICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Surface Preparation \u2026<\/strong> All surfaces must be clean (free of all coatings and curing compounds), structurally sound, frost-free, and relatively smooth.\u00a0 Prepare substrate per manufacturer\u2019s instruction prior to application of membrane.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Exterior Sheathing Panels<\/strong> \u2026 Exterior sheathing panels are to be installed and fastened per manufacturer\u2019s recommendation. For detailed application information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/air-barriers\/exterior-sheathing-panels-installation-guidelines-air-shield-lsr\/\">INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: JOINT TREATMENT OF EXTERIOR SHEATHING PANELS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rough Openings <\/strong>\u2026 Refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/data\/Air-Shield-Rough-Opening.pdf\">AIR-SHIELD ROUGH OPENINGS INSTALLATION GUIDELINES<\/a> document for recommendations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Concrete Masonry Units<\/strong> \u2026 Before applying AIR-SHIELD LSR to CMU surfaces, patch all cracks, protrusions, small voids, offsets, details, irregularities, and small deformities with <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/meadow-patch-5-cementitious-repair-mortar-canada\/\">MEADOW-PATCH<sub>\u00ae<\/sub> 5<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/meadow-patch-20-fast-setting-cementitious-repair-mortar-canada\/\">MEADOW-PATCH 20<\/a> from W. R. MEADOWS at least two hours before application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Temperature\/Conditions \u2026<\/strong> Drying (curing) times are dependent on air temperature, airflow, relative humidity, substrate temperature, wind chill, dew point, etc.\u00a0 For example, as the temperature decreases or the humidity increases, the dry time will increase. If the temperature drops below 4.5\u00b0 C, dry time (cure rate) and resistance to precipitation and dew will be delayed.\u00a0 Protect membrane from precipitation and washout prior to drying.\u00a0 Exposure to air temperatures\/wind chills below -6.6\u00b0 C during drying may lead to cracking and decrease of performance of AIR-SHIELD LSR.<\/p>\n<p>Typical Dry Times:<\/p>\n<p>Tack-Free Time:\u00a0 \u00a0 4 hours at 75\u00b0 F (23.5\u00b0 C) &amp; 50% RH<\/p>\n<p>Dry Time:\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a048 hours at 75\u00b0 F (23.5\u00b0 C)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Method<\/strong> \u2026 AIR-SHIELD LSR may be applied by spraying or a 19.1 mm (3\/4&#8243;) minimum nap roller. (For recommendations on spray equipment, consult <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/tech-form\/\">W. R. MEADOWS technical staff<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>AIR-SHIELD LSR may be sprayed on at the minimum coverage rate of approximately 0.42 &#8211; 0.54 m<sup>2<\/sup>\/L (17 &#8211; 22 ft.<sup>2<\/sup>\/gal.) (75 mils wet) (40 mils dry). Note: For roller applications or during periods of extremely hot weather, two coats may be necessary if the material begins to slump. Apply second coat after first coat has completely dried, approximately one to two hours after first coat. Frequently inspect surface area with a wet mil gauge to ensure consistent thickness. Work material well into any fluted rib forming indentations. Porous masonry block walls may require additional coats to obtain desired thickness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Curing and Drying &#8230;<\/strong> Allow material to dry at air and surface temperatures of -6.7\u00b0 C or higher. Curing times will be affected by relative humidity, temperature, and airflow.\u00a0 The following times are given for average conditions and standard thicknesses. Actual times may differ, depending on specific conditions present on job at time of application. It is recommended that AIR-SHIELD LSR be allowed to air dry to a tack-free film before application of specified insulation. Maximum exposure time for AIR-SHIELD LSR is four months.<\/p>\n<p>Tack-free film: 2 hours<\/p>\n<p>Full cure: 48 hours<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cleanup<\/strong> \u2026 Uncured AIR-SHIELD LSR cleans up easily while wet with water. Cured material is best removed by xylene or by mechanical means.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIMITATIONS\/PRECAUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DO NOT FREEZE. Keep containers tightly sealed. Maximum UV exposure period is four months.\u00a0 It is recommended that the roof is installed prior to the application of AIR-SHIELD LSR.\u00a0 This will help avoid water from getting behind the backup wall or filling the CMU block, which can potentially lead to jobsite concerns. Do not apply AIR-SHIELD LSR if precipitation is forecast or imminent within 24 hours at 23.5\u00b0 C and 50% RH of application.\u00a0\u00a0 Adhesion of membrane on oriented strand board (OSB) can sometimes be affected by the level of surface texture or the presence of wax that is part of the binder used to bond together the wood strands.\u00a0 Prior to placement on OSB, in-situ adhesion tests should be performed to determine suitability of substrate prior to full installation.\u00a0 If there are variations in the OSB surface, multiple tests may be required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please <a href=\"https:\/\/can.wrmeadows.com\/tech-form\/\">contact W.
